Working Groups

GP2 brings together specialists from a range of disciplines who are driven by the same goal of improving the understanding of the genetic architecture of Parkinson’s disease. GP2 governance is led by a Steering Committee and Working Groups that are responsible for the operations and implementation of the program. Some of the working groups cluster into either monogenic (single gene) or complex (multiple genes) workflows for data collection and analysis.

Underrepresented Populations Working Group

The Underrepresented Populations working group, facilitates increased representation and analysis of genetic factors associated with Parkinson’s disease in non-European populations.

Monogenic Network
The Monogenic Network is comprised of the (i) Data Generation Working Group and the (ii) Data Analysis Working Group, and studies patients and families with known and potential new monogenic causes of Parkinson’s disease.

The Data Generation Working Group onboards and follows up on monogenic cohorts, i.e., familial and early-onset Parkinson’s disease patients with and without known monogenic causes, aiming to uncover new genes and/ genotype-phenotype correlations.

Complex Disease Network
The Complex Disease Network coordinates the complex arm of GP2, comprised of the Cohort Integration and Data Analysis Working Groups.

The Data Analysis working group manages the maintenance, democratization, and acceleration of analyses, and provides analytical support for investigators with approved projects.
Prodromal Working Group

The prodromal working group is bringing in data and samples from new and existing prodromal cohorts, to significantly expand the resource for analyzing prodromal PD and allow vital analyses on the earliest phases of disease.
