Tatiana Foroud, PhD
Indiana University
Tatiana received her BS in biology and mathematics from Fairfield University. She received her MS in biomathematics at the University of California, Los Angeles and her PhD in genetics at the Indiana University School of Medicine. She is a former faculty member in the Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics. She was named the Joe C. Christian Professor and Chair of the department in 2015 and a Distinguished Professor of Indiana University in 2018. Tatiana’s research focused on the genetics of neurodegenerative disorders, including Alzheimer disease (AD) and Parkinson disease (PD). Her studies included analyses of multiplex families. More recently, she expanded her research program to include genetic counseling for individuals at increased risk for inherited pathogenic mutations contributing to PD susceptibility. She leads multiple biorepositories banking samples from participants with neurodegenerative disorders. These samples are critical for the identification of biomarkers associated with AD or PD susceptibility or progression. Tatiana is an author on more than 700 papers.
