Tuğçe Gül, MSc

Biography

Tuğçe Gül, a Suna Kıraç Scholar, has graduated from Yıldız Technical University, Molecular Biology and Genetics Department. Her undergraduate thesis investigated SOD1 mutations in Turkish ALS patients. She obtained her MSc degree from Yeditepe University, Molecular Medicine Department during which she investigated the effect of miRNA-148a expression on LDL cholesterol level. Currently, she is a PhD student at Koç University Neuroscience program, KUTTAM-NDAL, under the academic mentorship of Prof. A. Nazlı Başak. Her PhD studies focus on understanding the molecular landscape of Parkinson’s Disease (PD) in Turkey. Tuğçe aims to understand the complex genetics of PD, contribution of risk factors, and inter- and intra-familial phenotypic variations using next-generation genome technologies. She was in Dr. Joanne Trinh’s research group at the University of Lübeck, Institute of Neurogenetics involved in Nanopore sequencing and MDSgene projects between May-December 2022. She is again a visiting PhD student at the University of Lübeck, Institute of Neurogenetics between July-October 2023.
