Mehri Salari, MD
Biography
Dr.Salari did her MD at Semnan University of Medical Sciences, then she trained as a neurology resident at Isfahan Medical University, and gratuated with higest score at the national board exam, then worked as an assistant professor of neurology at the same university for two years. She was interested in Movement Disorders (MDs)since her residency and after her graduation continued her training in a referal MD centre, afterward, she won a training grant of Movement Disorders Society( MDS) for training 3 months in Australia, then she trained in Candana under supervision of Prof.Jog and Prof.Lang for one year, and in the UK under supervision of Prof.Bhatia. When she completed her training in MDs, started her work at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences (SBMU) and run her Parkinson’s Disease clinic, MDs clinic, and Deep Brain Stimulation(DBS) clinic at Shohada-e-Tajrish hospital. She is highly interested in research and has published more than 130 papers in the field of neurology and mainly MDs.
Her main research interest is genetic of Parkinson’s Disease, epidemyology of Parkinson’s Disease in Iran, genetic of rare MDs, Huntington’s Disease, etc.
At 2022 she did a training under supervision of Prof.Klein in genetic of MDs at Lübeck, Germany.
At 2023 she won MDS and EHDN grant for training in UCL under supervision of Prof.Tabrizi.
Now she is associated professor of neurology and movement disorders specialist at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences (SBMU).
She is chair of the Middle East Working Group (MEWG)of the MDS and deputy of education of neurology group at SBMU.
She won several national and international prizes, including Kazem Ashtiani prize of National Elites Foundation, Abureyhan prize for the best researcher, best researcher at international MS congress, best young neurologist,etc.
She won the gold medal of the MDS video challenge in 2019.
Dr.Salari established the MD fellowship in Iran and is training the first MD fellow in our country.
She is a member of several task forces in the MDS and won several travel, research, and educational grants.
