Biography

I am developing software for the analysis of genetic data, with focus on mitochondrial genetics (mtDNA) with over 15 years of experience with mtDNA analysis and the development of tools for mtDNA interpretation. The tools for mtDNA analysis cover haplogroup classification, variant calling for second- and third-generation sequencing as well as tools for quality control (QC) and contamination detection on mtDNA. Besides benchmarking and improving variant callers for mtDNA, I am highly interested in characterization of mtDNA in cancer tissues and patients with age related diseases, such as PD.
