The University of Houston

Weiyi Peng received her MD from Tongji Medical University in China, subsequently pursued her PhD in immunology at Baylor College of Medicine, and then completed her postdoctoral fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC). Her research efforts focus on elucidating the interplay between cancer and the immune system and translating this knowledge into novel therapeutic approaches to improve the effectiveness of cancer immunotherapy. Her translational studies have enabled three ongoing clinical trials at MDACC to evaluate the antitumor efficacy of novel immune-based therapeutic strategies for cancer patients. She has published a series of high-impact papers in Science, Immunity, Nature Medicine, Nature Communications, Cancer Discovery, and Cell Metabolism. Dr. Peng has received several awards including the Presidential Award at the 2009 SITC Annual Meeting, the 2017 SITC Young Investigator Award and the 2018 AAI-Chambers-Thermo Fisher Scientific Memorial Award, as well as the Young Investigator Award from the Melanoma Research Alliance.
