Biography

Dr. Pedro Chana-Cuevas is a distinguished neurologist who graduated from the University of Chile in 1987. He is a Professor of Neurology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Santiago. Dr. Chana-Cuevas has made significant contributions to the field of neurology, particularly in supporting patients with Parkinson’s disease.

His work has had a notable impact in Bolivia, where he was named an honorary citizen of La Paz in 2012. Dr. Chana-Cuevas founded and presides over the Movement Disorders Center, working in collaboration with patient associations to provide comprehensive care.

As a social entrepreneur recognized by Ashoka, Dr. Chana-Cuevas has authored numerous publications and is a frequent speaker at neurology conferences. His contributions to the field were honored by the Bolivian Society of Neurology in 2023.

Dr. Chana-Cuevas’s dedication to improving the lives of Parkinson’s patients, combined with his research and educational efforts, aligns closely with GP2’s mission to further understand the genetic architecture of Parkinson’s disease.
