Biography

Dr. Nils Schröter, MD, is a German board-certified neurologist and clinician scientist specializing in movement disorders and neuroimaging. Since January 2025, he has been serving as senior attending physician at the Department of Neurology, Saarland University Medical Center, where he leads the section for movement disorders and neuroimaging.

He received his medical degree from the University of Würzburg in 2014 and completed his clinical training in neurology at the University Medical Centers of Würzburg and Freiburg.

Dr. Schröter defended his doctoral thesis with honors (magna cum laude) in 2018, investigating Gb3 accumulation in Fabry disease. He has been actively engaged in clinical neuroscience research, contributing to translational studies on Parkinson syndromes, cognitive impairment in neurodegenerative and post-COVID conditions, and advanced neuroimaging techniques. His work has been published in leading journals including Brain, Annals of Neurology, Nature Communications, and npj Parkinson’s Disease. He is a peer reviewer for multiple international journals and a member of the German Neurological Society (DGN), the German Parkinson Society (DPG), and the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS).
