Biography
Elaine is a Dean’s Postdoctoral Fellow in the Neuroscience and Mental Health research programme at the Nanyang Technological University Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Genetics and Biochemistry from the University of Melbourne (Australia) and her PhD in Functional Genomics of Androgenetic Alopecia from the National University of Singapore (Singapore).
Her current postdoctoral training under Asst Prof Foo Jia Nee at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine focuses on the genetics underlying Parkinson’s disease in the East Asian population and the functional characterisation of Parkinson’s disease-related genes. Elaine also works on tandem repeat identification in neurological diseases and de novo assembly of Singaporean Chinese, Malay and Indian mitochondrial genomes.
