Biography

I am a Medical Technologist, Master in Biological Sciences with a specialization in Cell Biology and PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Chile, with a doctoral internship in the Cell & Developmental Biology Department, Division of Biosciences, University College London. From 2008 to 2017, I was a researcher in the Anatomy and Developmental Biology Program of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Chile. Since 2014, I have served as Director of the Molecular Cancer Diagnostics Laboratory of the Pathological Anatomy Service of the Clinical Hospital of the University of Chile, as well as Scientific Director of the Tissue and Fluid Biobank of the University of Chile. I am also an Associate Professor in the Department of Pathological Anatomy and the Department of Basic-Clinical Pathological Oncology, Faculty of Medicine of the University of Chile. My research interests include the development of brain asymmetries and orofacial malformations using the zebrafish model. A decade ago, I began working in cancer biology and biobanking. I have over 60 publications in ISI journals and have participated in numerous national and international conferences.
